SCEHSC investigators selected in multi-omics consortium
USC has received funding from NIH, as part of a five-year, $50.3 million “multi-omics” study of human health and disease involving six sites. SCEHSC Deputy Director Lida Chatzi, MD, Phd leads the USC Study Site investigating liver disease.
Even “safe” air pollution levels can harm the developing brain, study finds
In one of the first longitudinal studies of its kind, researchers from SCEHSC and Keck School of Medicine of USC found that everyday air pollution can alter brain development patterns in adolescents.

Integrative Health Sciences Facility Core
The Integrative Health Sciences Facility Core (IHSFC) provides directed access to laboratory capabilities and expertise to support and enhance clinical and translational research projects. Center investigators can draw upon tools and methodologies through a multi-faceted approach that integrates clinical and population-based research in humans, molecular epidemiology and genetics, and animal and in vitro models.

Exposure Factors Facility Core
The Exposure Factors Facility Core (EFC) addresses a full range of exposure assessment and spatial analysis needs. Exposures in this context are broad in scope and include chemical, physical, social, built environment, other stressors such as ambient light at night and noise, and behaviors and activities that affect individual interactions with their surrounding environment.

Biostatistics Facility Core
In this big data world, the Biostatistics Facility Core (BFC) provides Center investigators with critical access to appropriate hardware, computational, and statistical resources. The BFC supports Center investigators’ research through consultation about study design for human subjects and experimental research, statistical methodology advice, and assistance with various statistical applications.
The SCEHSC was founded by Dr. John Peters in 1996 to investigate environmental exposures, host factors, and human disease
